SAN DIEGO, Calif. (CBS - There was a lot of love in the air at the city’s emergency winter shelter in Barrio Logan today—just in time for Valentine’s Day.

Volunteers handed out candy and valentines made by local girl scouts and students to everyone staying at the shelter

But the women staying there got an extra little surprise: a beautiful rose.

During such hard times, those staying at the winter shelter say getting a Valentine’s Day greeting makes all the difference in the world.

Folks at the winter shelter also enjoyed a special Valentine’s Day lunch.
