“Just Call Us Volunteers” will prepare and serve a very special Valentine’s meal for the residents at the San Diego City Winter Shelter, Metro Hotel and Veteran’s Winter Shelter on Sunday, February 13, 2011.

Have you been wanting to volunteer with a group of well meaning adults not affiliated with any political or religious organization? Have you watched way too many food network shows and long to cook in a professional kitchen? If so, then please volunteer to with us.

The event will begin at “Just Call Us Kitchen Rental”, Chef Julie Darling’s shared use commercial kitchen, where we will cook roast pork loin, mashed potatoes, salad, green beans and of course, desserts!!

We will start at 9am at the kitchen and then at 1:30pm we will split into three groups and caravan together to the different locations to serve. Come for a couple of hours or stay all day! We will serve nearly 600 residents. Professional chefs welcome but NO experience is required - just bring a good sense of humor and roll up your sleeves.

Just Call Us Volunteers prepares and serves special holiday themed meals for the residents of the San Diego City Winter Homeless Shelter and Veterans Winter Homeless Shelter. Each year there are tough decisions that must be made by the city of San Diego on the location of the shelters and sometimes that can cause delays. In 2010, even though the city shelter was late opening, Just Call Us Volunteers did our part to make sure the homeless still had a hot delicious meal for Thanksgiving Day.
