SAN DIEGO (April 7, 2013) – Just Call Us Volunteers received a $10,000 grant from The UPS Foundation, the charitable arm of UPS (NYSE:UPS). The grant will be used toward continuing the organization’s mission of cooking and serving healthy meals for the homeless in the San Diego area.

Founded in 2005, Just Call Us Volunteers is a 501(c) 3 not-for-profit organization that positively impacts the lives of low income and homeless adults and children in San Diego by serving healthy meals and conducting hands-on cooking classes, using fresh ingredients in collaboration with other non profits involved in similar activities.

“The UPS Foundation’s support of Just Call Us Volunteers couldn’t have come at a better time,” said Julie Darling, founder and president of Just Call Us Volunteers. “In addition, to helping our organization continue to serve meals for the homeless, this grant will allow us to expand our reach and serve more of San Diego’s homeless.”

Established in 1951 and based in Atlanta, Ga., The UPS Foundation identifies specific areas where its backing clearly impacts social issues. In support of this strategic approach, The UPS Foundation has identified the following focus areas for giving: nonprofit effectiveness, encouraging diversity, community safety and environmental sustainability.

In 2011, The UPS Foundation distributed more than $45.3 million worldwide through grants that benefit organizations or programs such as Just Call Us Volunteers and provide support for building stronger communities.

“The UPS Foundation is honored to support Just Call Us Volunteers’ efforts to provide healthy meals to San Diego’s homeless,” said Eduardo Martinez, president of The UPS Foundation. “Our goal is to find powerful programs that make a lasting difference to the global community.”
