Thanksgiving Volunteers and Donations Needed
Posted by: | CommentsIf you’re looking for an opportunity to volunteer for Thanksgiving, we could use your help with food donations, chopping, cooking and serving the Thanksgiving meal for the city of San Diego’s Winter Shelter for the Homeless, the Metro Hotel and hopefully the Veterans Winter Shelter. No experience necessary. Families are welcome!!
Food prep will be at Chef Julie’s “Just Call Us Kitchen Rental” professional shared kitchen at 4445 Clairemont Mesa Blvd, San Diego, CA 92117. We need volunteers starting at 2:30pm on Wednesday, Nov 24th, until late into the evening. We will start again Thursday morning at 8am until around 1230pm. We will then load up the food and caravan together to serve a great Thanksgiving meal at the new shelter location: 1625 Newton Ave.
We can also still use more donations of turkeys, pies, hams, apples, oranges and bottles of water. Give us a call or email to see how you can help.
We’re always grateful for cash donations. Make checks payable to JCU Volunteers. We are a 501 C3 not for profit corporation (all donations are tax deductible)!
To volunteer or make a donation contact Julie Darling, [email protected], 619-306-2765.
This is always such a rewarding volunteer opportunity – don’t miss this chance to give back.
(Can’t make it for Thanksgiving? There is still an opportunity to help. We will be making soup from the great Thanksgiving turkey leftovers and serving soup night at the Veteran’s Shelter – sometime around Dec 1.)
